Latviešu Latviešu 20. gadsimta sākuma īsprozas meistara Erika Ādamsona (1907-1946) noveļu krājums "Smalkās kaites" (1937) ir iekļauts Latvijas Kultūras kanonā. Šis krājums ietver dažādu cilvēku portretus, tos visus vieno kāda rakstura, dzīves uztveres īpatnība, ko autors nodēvējis par "smalko kaiti". E. Ādamsona cilvēks "par dažādiem sīkumiem viegli, ātri un bieži uztraucas, viņš cenšas harmonizēt savu personību, analizējot dažādas rakstura nepilnības un dīvainības jeb "smalkās kaites"; intelektuālisestēts, kurš tomēr vēlas atjaunot saikni ar savu dabisko pirmsākumu, ar cilvēces pārmākto dabu."1 E. Ādamsona noveļu varoņi pārslimo dažādas "smalkās kaites" – tas ir, godkārību ("Sarkanās asaras"), greizsirdību ("Jāšana uz lauvas"), perfekcionismu ("Stāsts par nagu"), bailes un nedrošību ("Abakuka krišana"), egocentrismu un aizdomīgumu ("X un Y") u.c. Uzskatot, ka Erika Ādamsona noveles ir izcila mākslas vērtība ar spriegu varoņu jūtu dzīvi, iekšējo konfliktu blīvumu un savdabīgu indivīda skatījumu uz pasauli, kā arī saskatot tēmu aktualitāti un ņemot vērā to, ka līdz šim Erika Ādamsona noveles profesionālajā teātrī nav iestudētas, par šī diplomdarba praktisko mērķi tika izvirzīts izveidot noveles "X un Y" dramatizējumu, kā arī to iestudēt Latvijas Radioteātrī. Novele "X un Y", pēc maģistra darba autores domām, pauž vairākas būtiskas domas – ikvienam indivīdam svarīgi ir būt saprastam un pieņemtam kā cilvēkam (neatkarīgi no dzimuma). Vientulība ģimenē, ilgas pēc klusuma brīžiem, kuros nav jājūtas neērti, kas sniedz harmonijas, drošības izjūtu. Savukārt sabiedrības uzvedība ir stereotipiska, tā aiz ārējās attiecību jābūtības formas pazaudē interesi par cilvēku. |
Angļu Collection of short stories "Smalkās kaites" ("Fine ailments", 1937) by Eriks Ādamsons – one of great masters of short prose in 20th century (1907-1946) – is included in the Latvian Cultural Canon. This collection consists of portraits of different people, peculiar with unordinary nature or life perception which author has defined as "fine ailments". Considering that Eriks Ādamsons' stories bring an excellent artistic value with intense feelings of characters, dense internal conflicts and unique vision of individuals, as well as considering the significance of topics and taking into account the fact that Ādamsons' stories have not been staged in Latvia the practical goal was set to dramatize the story "X and Y" and stage it in the Latvian Radio Theatre. Staging "X and Y" was a call to stop the race and find one's soul. Exploring the material raised several questions: What is the power that makes to abandon friends and family and to run away with a stranger? What returns meaning of life to pursue responsible life? What adds the awareness that the other person feels the same way? Where lies the beauty of relationships? The choice of production fell exactly on Radio Theatre because the voice, breath, music, noises, sounds and silence which particularly plays an important role in this piece of art, all are integral means of expression to convey story's emotions accurately. It was important to keep Eriks Ādamsons' language and depictions which are of indispensable value. So, combining music, sounds and noises with the excellent literary material, the goal was to create an aesthetic work – an audial painting. Of special value in creating unique atmosphere was the original music of composer Raimonds Tiguls, even creating paralel story at a higher level. In this work the short story "X and Y" is analyzed and interpreted by the graduate of Latvian Academy of Culture Aija Treija, describing the choice and staging process step by step.
